Local Government Act 1999 (SA), Section 210(1) - Proposed Declaration

District Council of Peterborough hereby gives notice that it proposes to make a declaration under Section 210(1) of the Local Government Act 1999 (SA) converting the following private road within its Council area into a public road on 21 September 2018 or thereafter:

The private road comprising allotment 212 in Deposited Plan 1475, which is comprised in Certificate of Title Volume 549 Folio 45, and which is a private road commonly known as Peterborough Laneway in the area of Peterborough.

Briefing Session for Intending Candidates

The Districe Council of Peterborough will be holding a briefing session at 6.00pm on Wednesday 29th August 2018 at the Peterborough Town Hall, 108 Main St Peterborough for approx. 30 – 60 minutes.

The briefing session will be conducted to inform intending candidates of the election process and the responsibilities of an elected member and the level of commitment required to meet community expectation of the role.

Subject matter will include:

  • Role and responsibility of a councillor
  • Time commitment
  • Allowances and expenses
  • Council meetings
  • The availability of a printed copy of the voters roll on request
  • Signage regulations
  • Campaign donation return requirements

Peterborough featured twice on Channel 7's SA Weekender Travel Show

Town Carriage Museum

Come along to the Town Carriage in the centre of town and see the newly opened museum - open 7 days a week, 9am to 5pm, free entry!  It houses a time-line exhibit of Peterborough's history, complete with a 'virtual' steam train ride in the compartments.  Click here for further information.

The VIC has Moved !

The newly accredited 'yellow i' Visitor Information Centre is now housed at Steamtown (the western end of Main Street).  Call in for souvenirs, information, advice, tips and a whole lot more, open 7 days a week, 9am to 5pm - there is so much to see and do in the area and our team will be delighted to help.

The District Council of Peterborough is proud to announce that they were winners of two Awards at the 2013 KESAB Sustainable Communities Awards:

1) Category Winner - Appearance, Amenities and Facilities 2013.  This was for the Main Street Upgrade.

2) Best Community 2013 - Flinders Distrct.
